Oh my family!

My family is one of the most funny things I have ever witnessed attempt to function. For example, last month I was playing scatagories with my siblings and my father who we can barely persuade to play board games with us. We had the letter N, and if you have ever played scatagories you know that one of the lists you can choose makes you specify a candy that starts with the letter you roll. So my brother in law smartly put Nutella because of the dictionary definition which is: something made out of sugar often paired with fruit or nuts, or a confection. There became intense debate for hours of why or why not Nutella is a candy. Of course as most battles in my family, it separated us into boys vs. girls. The girls heartily claiming that Nutella is not a candy because it is a spread. Which insinuates that whether or not something is candy depends on the state or form that it is in. The boys were quick to point out that the dictionary definition said nothing about texture, form, or state. So still the hostile words were flung back and forth trying to persuade the other side that indeed Nutella is/is not a candy. Now if only you could see how chaotic this whole encounter was. The amusement that was gleaned from this was far to great. The linguist turning against her husband, father chastising daughter, husband and wife staring each other down, no one getting why the others would not see their point of view. I love my family especially their augmentative tendencies. I am so grateful for them and the humor and joy I get from them daily.
